Gunwale ("we", "us", "our") is committed to protecting the privacy of everyone who uses our platform. This Privacy Statement explains how we collect, use, disclose, store, and protect personal information in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) (the Privacy Act) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs) contained in Schedule 1 of that Act.
Gunwale is a web-based coaching platform used by Australian independent school high-performance athletic programs to monitor athlete training load, recovery metrics, and academic workload. Our users include school coaches, athletic program administrators, and student athletes.

We do not collect personal information from individuals who have not registered to use Gunwale.
Many of our users are secondary school students under the age of 18. Where a student athlete is under 18, we require that the relevant school program administrator has authorised the athlete's enrolment in the platform and the collection of their personal and health information. We encourage schools to obtain parent or guardian consent in accordance with their own governance requirements and applicable state or territory education regulations.
We do not knowingly collect personal information from individuals under 14 years of age without verified school authorisation and, where required by law, parental or guardian consent.

Gunwale is a decision-support tool only. Load scores and risk indicators are not clinical assessments and must not be relied upon as medical advice. Any concerns about an athlete's health or wellbeing should be referred to a qualified health professional.

We do not disclose personal information to any other third parties without your consent, except as described above or as otherwise permitted under the Privacy Act.
All personal information is stored in encrypted databases. Access to production systems is restricted to authorised personnel and is protected by role-based access controls, multi-factor authentication, and audit logging. Row-level security policies ensure that each user can only access information they are authorised to view.
Despite these measures, no internet-based service can guarantee absolute security. We encourage users to choose strong passwords and to notify us immediately if they suspect unauthorised access to their account.
We retain personal information for as long as an athlete or coach account remains active within a school program, and for up to 12 months following account deactivation, after which personal information is deleted or de-identified. Schools may request earlier deletion by contacting us using the details below.
Under the Privacy Act and the APPs, you have the right to request access to the personal information we hold about you, to request correction of inaccurate information, and to request deletion of your information subject to our retention obligations. To exercise any of these rights, contact us at the address below. We will respond within a reasonable time and no later than 30 days.
Some of our infrastructure providers operate servers in jurisdictions outside Australia. Where personal information is disclosed overseas, we take reasonable steps to ensure the recipient handles it consistently with the Australian Privacy Principles, including through data processing agreements.
If you believe we have breached your privacy rights or the APPs, please contact us in the first instance so we can try to resolve the matter. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may lodge a complaint with the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at www.oaic.gov.au or by calling 1300 363 992.
We may update this Privacy Statement from time to time. We will notify registered users of material changes via email or in-app notice. The current version will always be available on this page.
